Throwback Video…Cali Swag District: Teach Me How To Dougie

Its been close to a decade since the Cali Swag District exploded onto the scene with “The Dougie”, a #1 hit song with an accompanying dance that gave way to one of the nation’s most celebrated (and duplicated) moves ever.

The Inglewood, California rap squad seemed poised to rise to even higher levels of success after their group became a household name, but tragedy struck: Montae “M-Bone” Talbert was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting near where he grew up in 2011.

Talbert was a central figure in the group, and the originator of The Dougie.

As the group looked to move forward without such an important member in its line-up, less than three years later, group member Cahron “JayAre” Childs, who suffered from sickle cell anemia, fell into cardiac arrest and died.

Both deaths shocked and saddened the group’s mass of fans.

“Teach Me How To Dougie” has since been certified double platinum.
