The Show Must Go On: Janet Jackson Buries Dad, Immediately Resumes Tour Schedule

Papa Joe Jackson is in God’s hands now, so superstar singer Janet Jackson is resuming her busy tour itinerary–immediately. After all, the show and the coins must go on, right?

Janet recorded a message for her fans on Wednesday, the day after Joe was laid to rest, letting them know they can expect to see her shaking her 52 year old goodies on a stage near them, Blessed Be Father Joe, as soon as this weekend.

Janet acknowledged she had “a rough week”, but was excited about getting back on the road.

“Hey you guys, it’s been a pretty rough week,” Janet said. Her father passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 89 last week.

“But we’re excited. I’m excited,” Janet continued. “We cannot wait to see you. It’s been way too long. I miss you guys way too much. I’m about to jump on this plane and start this tour. Like I said, I can’t wait to see you. I love you, I’ll see you soon.”

She also captioned her thanks to the fans for their devotion and scores of encouraging messages.

“Thank u for all your love and support. Means so much to me during this time.”

Janet temporarily paused concert activity to spend some time with her dad before he passed.

Janet is set to perform as scheduled at the annual Essence Music Festival this Sunday, July 8.

She resumes her STATE OF THE WORLD Tour that following Wednesday, July 11, in Texas.
