Noted Former Gun Collector T.I. Says Government Should Not Ban Guns

Atlanta rap mogul T.I. was asked to offer his two cents about the recent mass shooting in Florida in which 17 people were killed by one lone gunman who legally acquired the AR-15 he used to commit the senseless spree.

Tip was also asked whether he supports potential government efforts to ban certain guns, or further restrict who can obtain them.

“You should probably make it more difficult for people who aren’t mentally stable to have guns,” Tip explains. “I just honestly feel that if you lose the right to bear arms as a citizen, you know what I’m sayin, it’s easy to enslave. It’s easy for the government to enslave people when they don’t have the right to bear arms.”

T.I. also pointed out that bans on felons obtaining guns don’t work.

“People think that the felons are the ones causing all of the problems,” he said. “But it seems as if people given gun licenses, who bought guns legally, are the ones causing all the mass hysterias [sic]. Our system is broken.”

Now y’all know T.I. knows about having some guns. He previously served a few months in federal prison after he was busted with a small arsenal at his home in 2007, including an assortment of high-powered, military-grade assault rifles.

By the way, statistics have shown that cities with strict gun control laws–such as Philly, NYC, Washington, D.C. and Chicago–have some of the highest rates of gun violence in the world.

T.I. added, “Our system is broken”.
