Nearly 1 Year Already Spent In Jail, Rapper Mystikal Returns To Court In July

Former No Limit Records rapper and New Orleans native Mystikal has been sitting in jail almost a full year after turning himself in on charges related to an alleged sexual assault, which he has pled not guilty to.

But Mystikal has a new court date: July 11, according to Caddo Parrish court records.

Mystikal was a chart-topping lyricist who helped make No Limit a household name in the mid-to-late 1990s. But he would end up serving several years in prison over a prior sex allegation and after his release, his career never seemed to fully recover.

As a result of that conviction, Mystikal, 47, birth name Michael Lawrence Tyler–also was made to publicly register as a sexual offender.

Reportedly, starstruck fans would often Google Map his home courtesy of Louisiana’s sex offender database, then arrive unannounced at his doorstep, hoping for a selfie.

Mystikal is charged with first degree rape and second degree kidnapping. He could face life in prison if convicted.

His bail is set at $3 million.
