Cardi B. Is First Female Rapper With MULTIPLE #1 Singles

Cardi B. just keeps winning and winning…and winning, love her or not. The Bronx-born rapper just set a new bar: she’s the first female rapper to notch multiple #1 singles.

Thanks to “Bodak Yellow” and now “Like,” Cardi B passes four female rappers who previously topped the tally with one No. 1 apiece: Lauryn Hill, with “Doo Wop (That Thing),” for two weeks in 1998; Lil’ Kim, with “Lady Marmalade,” with Christina Aguilera, Mya and P!nk (five weeks, 2001); Shawnna, as featured on Ludacris’ “Stand Up” (one, 2003); and, Iggy Azalea, with “Fancy,” featuring Charli XCX (seven, 2014)–.Billboard

Cardi thanked her fans on social media, saying none of her accomplishments wold be possible without them:

Meanwhile, Cardi’s top competitor, Nicki Minaj, hasn’t commented on that DM in which she savaged a Canadian blogger who had the nerve to question why Minaj’s music hasn’t matured.

Minaj’s latest album, Queen, was pushed back two months and is set to drop in August.

Insiders close to Minaj deny she pushed her album back for fear of being overshadowed by Cardi B., who is Hip Hop’s current “It Girl”–and has been for a hot minute, by the way.
