‘Batwoman’ Coming To TV

Batwoman is coming to television. The poplar DC Comics character is set to be introduced to TV viewers on the CW network, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed that introducing Batwoman marks the first time the character will appear “on any screen.” The character will be “fighting alongside” The CW’s heroes, Amell said, with the crossover airing in December. Additional details, including a character description for The CW character or actress, were not immediately available.

This will be the first time Batwoman has appeared in any form besides print.

Batwoman is one of DC Comics’ most popular characters.

A crime-fighting lesbian, Batwoman is just the latest in a long line of the comic company’s groundbreaking LGBTQ characters; many fans suspect the Batman and Robin characters were gay comic characters as well.

Batwoman revolves around Kate Kane, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet: in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.–TheHollywoodReporter
